CLEARFIELD – Yesterday, the Clearfield County Commissioners opened bids for re-roofing the Clearfield 9-1-1 Center.

The commissioners received eight bids for the re-roofing project. The lowest bid came from Mid-state Roofing & Coating Inc. in the amount of $29, 370.

Other bids included WW Gildersleeve & Sons, $35,800; Brian Gmerek, $34,800; Wohler Construction, $36,900; T. English Construction LLC, $34,320; CEF Contracting Inc., $46,171, J.L. Hess & Co., $35,000 and 768-Roof, $41,980.

Jerry Bankovich of KTH Architects asked the commissioners if they wanted to take action on the lowest bidder pending his review. Solicitor Kim Kesner said the commissioners typically table bids for his review and approve them at a future meeting.

Commissioner Joan Robinson-McMillen suggested tabling the re-roofing bids, as the commissioners will have a work session next week. She said the commissioners could take action then after Bankovich reviews the submitted bids and presents his recommendation.

The commissioners subsequently voted, 3-0, to table any action on the bids until after Bankovich’s review.

When asked, Robinson-McMillen said the county wanted to re-roof the 9-1-1 Center, as its roof has been leaking. The county, she said, had budgeted for the re-roofing project.
