Obituary Notice: Brittany Ann Baird

Brittany Ann Baird, 25, died as a result of a canoeing accident on Saturday, May 24, 2014 in Elk County.

She was born Oct. 3, 1988 in DuBois and was the daughter of Lon L. Baird Jr. and Marcy (Campanini) Baird.  They survive.

She was engaged to be married to Anthony “Jimmer” Varischetti on Sept. 20, 2014.  They had been together for seven years.

She graduated summa cum laude from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2011. She completed her Master’s degree from Temple University on May 21 with honors.  She was employed as a therapist with Community Guidance in DuBois, where she was loved by all the children.

She was an incredibly kind-hearted and fun-loving soul.  She was a caring friend to many and a best friend to her younger sister, Jessica. She enjoyed life and spending time with her family, fiancé and friends, as well as her little dog, Ziggy.

She will be remembered for her kind heart and caring spirit and will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she’s survived by her sister, Jessica Baird of DuBois; her maternal grandparents, Sally Harvey and her husband, Jack of DuBois; her paternal grandparents, Lon and Donna Baird Sr. of Luthersburg; and her maternal great-grandfather, Michael Garofalo of DuBois.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Michael Campanini.

There will be no public visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Tobias Roman Catholic Church in Brockway with Msgr. Charles Kaza as celebrant.

Friends will be received by the family immediately following the mass. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Although flowers are appreciated, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Brittany Baird Memorial Fund at Clearfield Bank and Trust Co., 91 Beaver Dr., DuBois, PA 15801.

The Goble-Baronick Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
