Beverly M. Sayers, 91, of Frenchville died Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Christ the King Manor, DuBois.
She was born Aug. 5, 1922 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Hiram and Bessie (Buck) Shaw.
Mrs. Sayers was a homemaker. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing puzzles.
She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Frenchville, and a member of the church’s Rosary Society. She was also member of the Golden Bison Association, the Friends of the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging and a charter member of the Frenchville Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
She is survived by three children, Charles R. Sayers of Harrisburg, Thomas L. Sayers and his wife, Georganna of Philipsburg and Susan Kline and her husband, Patrick of Vandergrift; five grandchildren, David Sayers, Denise Sayers, Tracy Sayers, Carly Sayers and Ariel Kline; a sister and brother, Donna Kurtz and her husband, Austin of Clearfield and Kenneth L. Shaw of Cleveland, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Sayers on Nov. 19, 2010 and whom she wed Oct. 5, 1940 in Frenchville. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Fran Sayers; a sister, Esther Buzzard; and a brother, Wayne E Shaw.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 3 p.m. Saturday at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Frenchville, with the Rev. David A. Perry Jr. as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.
At the request of Mrs. Sayers, there will be no public visitation.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 275 21st St., Clearfield, or to the Penn Highlands DuBois Hospice, 100 Hospital Ave., DuBois.
