CLEARFIELD – The concert/gate ticket special for the Joan Jett & the Blackhearts concert ends Thursday. Concert tickets purchased by midnight or orders postmarked by Thursday will include free gate admission.
Tickets can be ordered online via the official fair Web site, www.clearfieldcountyfair.com. Tickets for the Jett concert purchased after Thursday will require a separate gate pass.
Fairgoers who miss the special are encouraged to purchase the advance gate only pass (rides not included). Tickets are also available for country band Florida Georgia Line, rock group Halestorm and classic country band The Oak Ridge Boys with special guest Lee Greenwood.
Entry forms for the Fair Queen contest will continue to be accepted until June 9. Forms can be printed from the fair Web site or can be requested by emailing clfdfairqueen@yahoo.com.
Contestants must be 16 years of age and not over 20 years by June 1 and a female who is a U.S. citizen and a resident of Pennsylvania.
Contestants must be single, never married and have had no children. They must also be willing to participate in fundraising events for charity and be comfortable around livestock.
The contest consists of an essay that’s 300 words or less about what the fair means to the community, a speech on why people should attend the fair and a personal interview.
The Fair Queen program provides young ladies with an opportunity to enhance their speaking, writing and interview skills, to meet public officials and to learn about agriculture.
The program encourages community involvement by raising funds for charity, speaking engagements at area organizations and appearances at area events. The first contestant meeting will be held at 6 p.m. June 10 at the Expo II Building at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds.
Ladies who are interested but yet undecided are encouraged to attend the first contestant meeting to learn more about the contest and the program. More information and rules can be found on the fair Web site.
