Obituary Notice: Clair Lupton

Clair Lupton, 87, of Windy Hill Village of Presbyterian Home, Philipsburg, died Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born Aug. 24, 1926 in Munson, he was the son of John and Hanna (Holdsworth) Lupton.

He served in the U.S. Army with the military police during World War II. He’d been a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the AMVETS in Philipsburg.

He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Stott Coal Co. until his retirement.

In March of 1950 in Osceola Mills, he married Blanch (Anderson) Lupton, who preceded him in death on March 2, 2006.

He’s survived by his children, Larry Anderson and his wife, Judy of York; Janis Fender and her husband, Norman of Wright, WY; Georgia Knepp and her husband, Richard of Duck, NC; Kathy McKinney and her husband, Jerry of Houtzdale; Janie Lupton and her companion, Craig Houghton of Munson; and Jennie Lutz of Philipsburg.

Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley McGuire of Lock Haven and Frances Eminisher of State College; a brother, George Lupton of Philipsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and nine siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home Inc. in Houtzdale with the Rev. Robert Ford officiating.

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Allport Cemetery.
