CLEARFIELD – The 75th anniversary of the Adams Airmail Pick-up featuring a special envelope with a commemorative cachet cancelled will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Clearfield Airport. A ceremony will follow at 11 a.m. with a special airmail stamp cancellation.
The letters will then be flown to the DuBois Regional Airport for arrival at approximately 11:45 a.m. Special cancellations will be done at the DuBois Airport from 11:15 a.m. until 12 p.m. with the bearing of a special DuBois airmail stamp.
At 12 p.m., the flown mail – in an original 1939 canister – will be exchanged between the Clearfield and DuBois postmasters. There will be a presentation about the original route with artifacts and stamped envelopes from the 1939 flight.
