Golden Tide Get Back On Track, Beat Kane 11-4

KANE – The Curwensville Golden Tide broke a two game losing streak on Saturday afternoon with a road trip win over Kane, 11-4, in high school baseball action.

The Tide beat the Wolves in Curwensville last Monday, 9-7.

The big inning for Curwensville was the second, as the Tide scored five times, with the biggest hit being a two run home run by Brett Gardner.

Gardner and Tyler Mays had three hits apiece for Curwensville with Tanner Elensky and Jake B. Stiles picking up two each.

Mays scored three runs and added three RBI’s.

Gardner and Elensky also drove in three runs apiece.

Tide head coach Denny Johns said after the win, “The top of our order had a very productive day as they hit well with men on base who were in scoring position.”

Johns also liked what Travis Lansberry did on the mound, commenting, “Travis did a very nice job in relief, which was a big boost to our pitching staff with the tough upcoming week ahead.”

Speaking of the upcoming week, Johns said, “We have really a big week in front of us starting on Monday with five games in just three days.  This will really test our pitching staff so we need to be smart and throw strikes.  And, of course, we need our offense to come through to help out the guys on the hill.”

As coach Johns talked about, the Golden Tide (6-8) are scheduled to play five games in just three days thanks to all the postponements due to the weather earlier in the spring.

Brockway will travel to Curwensville on Monday for a doubleheader that starts at 3:30 pm.

On Tuesday the Tide will battle Harmony, on the Owls’ home field, at 4:30 pm.

Then on Wednesday, another doubleheader at home for Curwensville when it entertains the Elkers of Ridgway beginning at 3 pm.

The Wednesday games are the final regular season contests for the Tide.
