Edward K. Good, 82, a lifelong resident of Philipsburg, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the Hearthside Rehabilitation Center, State College.

Born June 24, 1931 in Wallaceton, he was the son of the late Melvin H. and Alma (Gennicks) Good. He was a 1949 graduate of Philipsburg High School.

He retired from the County National Bank, where he was the assistant vice president of the Osceola Mills and Philipsburg (Presqueisle Street) offices. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Philipsburg, where he was a deacon, elder, trustee and choir member.

He was a life member of the Kiwanis and a former lieutenant governor. He was a member of the former Philipsburg Country Club and of Valley Voices. He also served on Philipsburg Borough Council.

He was a co-founder of the Moshannon Valley YMCA. He was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed golfing and hunting. He also coached Little League and Teener League.

On Jan. 19, 1952 in Wallaceton, he married Leona Marie (Kovalcin) Good, who survives at Colonial Courtyard, Tyrone.

He’s survived by two daughters, Deborah Ann Metzgar and her husband, Gerald of Stroudsburg and Jacqueline Marie Jones and her husband, Edward of Myrtle Beach, SC; a son, Edward A. Good and his wife, Edie of Philipsburg; and a sister, Barbara Goss of Philipsburg.

He’s also survived by seven grandchildren, Jesse Reish, Damon Jones, Emily Reish, Matthew Jones, Jennifer Icenhour, Tyler Good and Ryan Good and four great-grandchildren, Matthew Jones, Noah Icenhour, Gabriel Eckert and Helena Icenhour.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. Good and a sister, Mona Trude.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, 509 E. Presqueisle St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Samuel G. Strohm officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.

There will be no public viewing.
