CURWENSVILLE – Seventh-grade students from the Curwensville Area High School celebrated Earth Day with a lesson on erosion and sediment.

Guest speaker, Fred Berry, of the Clearfield Conservation District spoke about the need to conserve the soil for future generations.

Students learned that sediment in waterways is a form of pollution. They also learned that this pollution can affect the food chain from macro invertebrates to fish to the humans that consume these fish.

The seventh graders then went outside to take part in an experiment that showed the difference of water run-off and recharge with natural and disturbed areas.
