UPDATED: Six Students Allegedly Stabbed at Franklin Regional High School

MURRYSVILLE – Several students have been reportedly injured in a stabbing incident at a high school in Westmoreland County, officials said.

WPXI-TV reported at about 8:45 a.m. that Dan Stevens, Westmoreland County emergency management director, said as many as 20 students were injured in the incident.

The stabbing was reported Wednesday morning at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville. The school is about 20 miles east of Pittsburgh, or 45 miles west of Johnstown.

Stevens said not all of those injured were stabbed, but some students may have suffered injuries while leaving the school. Initial reports indicated five or six people were stabbed at the school when the incident was first reported just after 7:15 a.m.

Stevens said a student was taken into custody in relation to the incident.

It was unclear how serious the injuries were. Those who were injured were sent to several Pittsburgh area hospitals.
