Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Sackash, 85, of Sykesville died Tuesday, April 8, 2014 in the home she was born in.
Born Aug. 17, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Laura J. (Ennis) Crooks.
On June 17, 1950, she married Michael Sackash Jr. He survives.
She was the owner and operator of Sackash Insurance Agency in Sykesville for 40 years.
She was active at Grace United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir. She was very active in Sykesville Community Affairs. She was one of the initial board members of the DuBois Area School District Alumni Association.
She is survived by three children and their families, a son, Michael Sackash and his wife, Kathy of Houston, Texas and granddaughter, Erin Duncan and her husband, Vin and great-granddaughters, Audrey and Catherine, all of Dallas, Texas and a granddaughter, Jill Maynard and her husband, Rich and grandsons, Jake and Dax, all of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Marsha L. Sackash of Boalsburg; and a son, Mark Sackash and his wife, Lorraine of Canton, Ga., grandson, Mark Sackash and his wife, Kendra and great-granddaughters, Kaelyn and Kellyn, on an overseas assignment, and grandson, Jed Sackash of Athens, Ga.; and a brother, Blaine Crooks and his wife, Betty of Indiana.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Carney, Anna Mae Berti and Alice Crooks and two brothers, Paul Crooks and Aubrey Crooks.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Dawn Krishart officiating.
