Juniata, Luthersburg and Sykesville elementary schools participated in a Jump for the Heart Event at their schools during the week of March 10-14.
The students raised more than $6,400 for the American Heart Association, which funds research, programs and education to fight heart disease and stroke, the nation’s No. 1 and No. 4 killers.
“I am so proud of all my students at Juniata, Luthersburg and Sykesville Elementary Schools,” said Gretchen Javens, DuBois Area School District Elementary physical education teacher and Jump for the Heart Coordinator.
“We had a lot of fun, and the kids enjoyed learning about the importance of physical activity and how they can play a role in saving lives.”
