STATE COLLEGE – Frigid temperatures have delayed lane restrictions on preservation work of a Route 322 bridge near Boalsburg. The lane restrictions were originally scheduled to be in place Tuesday, then pushed to today, and now rescheduled for next week.
The bridge spans Galbraith Run on Route 322, just east of Boalsburg. Due to cold weather, the contractor is now scheduled to install temporary concrete barrier on March 31. The barrier will restrict lane width to ten feet. Flaggers will be in the roadway Monday, as this work takes place. Traffic eastbound and westbound will be maintained but width restrictions will be in place through June. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
This work is part of a $2.2 million contract to preserve four bridges in Centre County. Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor on this project, which is expected to finish in October. Overall work will include beam rehabilitation, deck and concrete repairs, guide rail updates, roadway paving, and pavement markings.
Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits, move through work zones with caution and always buckle up.
