Dorothy A. Bainey, 98, of Philipsburg died Monday, March 24, 2014 at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg.
She was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Sinfeldt) Starck born Jan. 20, 1916 in Munson. She married Alvin H. Bainey on Jan. 11, 1935 in Cumberland, Md.; he preceded her in death on April 6, 1982.
Mrs. Bainey was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Philipsburg and was a member of the Clearfield and Philipsburg Senior Citizen Centers. She was a 1933 graduate of the Philipsburg Area High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, exercising, telling stories and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara (Bainey) Howe; a sister, Alma McKim; and two brothers, Woodrow and Robert Starck.
Mrs. Bainey is survived by two daughters, Arlene Piggott and her husband, Tom of Tallmadge, Ohio and Linda Reed of Hyde; two sons, Donald R. Bainey and his wife, Phyllis of Tallmadge, Ohio and Walter H. Bainey and his wife, Peg of Atwater, Ohio; and a brother, John Starck of Philipsburg. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, four great-great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Robert Way officiating. Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
