Franklin Earl Walburn, 92, a resident of Christ the King Manor in DuBois and formerly of Grampian, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the manor.

Born March 23, 1921 in Grampian, he was the son of Earl R. and Lenora M. (Coons) Walburn.  Mr. Walburn was a carpenter and worked for and retired from the Manno Corp. after 30 years of service.

He was a member of the Greenville Church of the Brethren. He was also a member of the Grampian Lions Club and the DuBois Lodge, Free & Accepted Masons.

On June 17, 1943 in Frankfort, Ky., he wed the former Mary Kathryn Sunderlin, who preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 2013.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Homer Ferringer; a daughter-in-law, Marian Walburn; three brothers, Albert, Floyd and Ralph “Jack” Walburn; and three sisters, Mary Johnson, Emma Wood, and Elsie Emanuelson.

Surviving are three children, C. JoAnn Ferringer of New Bethlehem, Jack Arthur Walburn of Danville and Thomas E. Walburn and his wife, Cheryl of Greencastle.  Also surviving are six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a brother, William Walburn of Grampian.

Funeral services for Mr. Walburn will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. Dale Rummel and the Rev. Gregory Beach co-officiating.  Burial will be in the Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. until the hour of services Friday at the funeral home.
