Samuel James Lamb, 69, of Philipsburg died Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey.

He was the son of the late Lester Lamb and Odessa (Coble) Lamb, who survives, of Philipsburg.  He was born Oct. 26, 1944 in Morrisdale.  On Feb. 13, 1970, he married the former Nancy Jane Lucas in Philipsburg; she survives at home.

Mr. Lamb was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Philipsburg. He was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the B.P.O. Elks No. 1173 in Philipsburg.

He especially enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was employed in the construction industry, worked as a truck driver for a period of time and lastly for Healthcare Billing Consultants in Osceola Mills until retiring in December of 2013. He attended the West Branch Area High School.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Virginia “Ginny” (Culp) Lamb.

Along with his mother and wife, he’s survived by two daughters, Jennifer Rebecca McDonald and her husband, Jeffrey and Susanna Mandell and her husband, Nick, both of Philipsburg; a son, Michael James Lamb and his wife, Candee of State College; a sister, Carol DeLucia and her husband, Ronald of Curwensville; and three brothers, Roger “Bud” Lamb and his wife, Alice of Sanborn and William Lamb and Paul Lamb and his wife, Winnie, both of Philipsburg.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Macee Cameron and Atheena Mae Lamb; Landon James, Jordan Rae and Samuel Asher McDonald; Logan Tayler, Morgan Jaye and Hannah Jane Mandell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Grace United Methodist Church in Philipsburg, with the Rev. Mark Thumma officiating.  Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home in Philipsburg and from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of the U.S. Marine Corps.
