Agatha M. “Markey” Kennedy, 82, of Osceola Mills died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg.
She was the daughter of the late John D. and Minnie A. (Davis) Carson born Sept. 11, 1931 in Philipsburg. She married Lester F. Kennedy at the Christian Missionary & Alliance Church in Osceola Mills on Sept. 23, 1950; he survives at home.
Mrs. Kennedy was a member of the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women of the church and taught Sunday school for many years.
She was employed as a cashier at the Philipsburg-Osceola Elementary School in Osceola Mills and retired after 25 years of service. After her retirement, she volunteered at the former Philipsburg Hospital. She was a 1949 graduate of the former Osceola Mills High School. And, she enjoyed needlework and reading.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Ellis and Lois J. Peters and five brothers, Melvin Carson, Milford Carson, Austin Carson, Donald Carson and Leslie Carson.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Kennedy is survived by four daughters, Kathy Shields and her husband, Ken of Lancaster, Sherilyn Kennedy of Wallaceton, Melanie Curtorillo and her husband, Darrel of Philipsburg and Tammy Kennedy of Osceola Mills; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jennifer C. Heikes officiating. Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the funeral service at the churh.
