Fire “Significantly Damages” Clearfield Street Residence

CLEARFIELD – The investigation is continuing into a fire that caused significant damage to a residence located at 519 Clearfield St., at approximately 3 p.m. this afternoon, in Clearfield Borough, reported the state police at Ridgway.

The fire, state police said, originated on the first floor and ventilated out a front and side window. This, state police said, resulted in external damage to the residence at 521 Clearfield St. as well.

According to state police, the front porch collapsed during efforts to suppress the fire. One firefighter was injured as a result and received treatment at Clearfield Penn Highlands.

The residence belonged to William R. Huffaker, 66, of Clearfield. He was not at home at the time of the fire. Huffaker didn’t have the residence insured for the loss; damage for the two properties is estimated at $100,000, according to state police.
