Mary D. Hunt, 96, died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.
Born Jan. 29, 1918 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of Peter and Inez (Houch) Stout.
She was a member of the New Hope Christian Fellowship Church, Houtzdale, where she was the clerk, served on the board of trustees and a member of the church choir.
She was a member of the former Houtzdale Fire Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering at the Houtzdale Senior Center.
Until her retirement, she was employed as a secretary at Penn State University, State College.
On Nov. 2, 1940, she married Howard Hunt Sr., who preceded her in death on Nov. 15.1982.
She’s survived by a son, Howard K Hunt Jr. and his wife, Eleanor and a daughter, Janice R Florey of Burnsville, Minn.
Also surviving are two grandchildren, James H Hunt of Clearfield and Kenneth E Hunt and his wife, Kathy of Jacksonville, Fla and two great-grandchildren, Emma Leigh Hunt and Andrew Kenneth Hunt of Jacksonville, Fla.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers, Raymond, George, Harold and Warren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral
Home Inc., Houtzdale, with Pastor Dennis Frantz officiating.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
