Betty J. Gallaher, 87, of Clearfield died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Gallaher was born Aug. 2, 1926, the daughter of Gurney A. and Odessa (Rowles) McCullough. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Gallaher was a former member of the Christ United Methodist Church of Clearfield.
She’s survived by three children, David D. Gallaher Jr. and his wife, Carolyn of Clearfield, Roger H. Gallaher and his wife, Gloria of Mineral Springs and Edward R. Gallaher and his wife, Margaret of Montoursville; eight grandchildren, Gerald L. Fry Jr., Christine Henkes, Cheryl Read, Kelly O’Connor, Lisa Hotovy, Adam Gallaher, Kimberly Martinez and Brian Gallaher; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, George McCullough of Florida; a sister, Janet Casebier of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gallaher was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David D. Gallaher, whom she married March 27, 1943 and whom died Aug. 8, 1993; a daughter, Gloria Jean Materkowski; a granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Materkowski; two sisters, Cleoda Stone and Ethel Blake; a brother, Ira McCullough; and an infant brother.
Honoring Mrs. Gallaher’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Burial will be in Stoneville Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, 1 S. Front St., Clearfield, PA 16830 or the Stoneville Cemetery Association, c/o Jim Brown, 4 N. Second St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
