Robert L. Overholser, 84, of DuBois died Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born June 27, 1929 in Greenville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Cletus V. and Edith K. (Staeger) Overholser.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean War.
On Feb. 20, 1955, he married Nellie Louise (Magness) Overholser. She survives.
He was the owner of R.L. Overholser Insurance and retired after 20 years of service. Prior to that, he worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance, where he was an agent and a sales manager for 25 years.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the James J. Patterson V.F.W., Post 813 and the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17. He enjoyed golfing and bowling.
He is survived by his children, David Overholser and his wife, Penny of Reynoldsville and Diane Kirk and her husband, Douglas, Dan Overholser and his wife, Debra and Donna Kosko, all of DuBois, Deborah Ann Atherholt and her husband, Dan and Denise Overholser, both of Mechanicsville, Va.; one sister, Cathy Manning and her husband, Gary of Gettysburg, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Overholser.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Amy Miller officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Lakelawn Cemetery.
