Clarence W. “Bill” Schloder Jr., 68, of DuBois died Monday, March 3, 2014 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born Sept. 28, 1945 in St. Marys, he was the son of the late Clarence W. Schloder Sr. and Lydia (McGonigal) Schloder.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War, where he received both the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medal.
On July 9, 1992, he married Debora E. (Gresak) Schloder. She survives.
He retired as a residential program worker for Oak Manor in St. Marys after more than 20 years of service. Prior to that, he had worked at Maple Manor Drug and Alcohol treatment facility.
He was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Sykesville. He loved to work in his garden and rebuild computers.
He is survived by three children, Melissa Powell and her husband, Ivan of Hazen and Theresa Hall and her husband, Rick and William Schloder, both of St. Marys; two brothers, John Schloder and his wife, Rose and Timothy Schloder, both of St. Marys; a sister, Judy Biessel of St. Marys; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Theodore Schloder and his step-mother, Theresa Schloder.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Rick Tomasone as celebrant.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard at the church.
