Edward A. Facer Sr., 70, of Port Matilda, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at his home.
He was the son of the late Richard T. Facer Sr. and Betty Emma (Kerstetter) Facer, born April 5, 1943 in Allentown. He married Wanda L. (Lucas) Facer on July 1, 1972 at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church; she survives at home.
Mr. Facer was a member of the Port Matilda Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Corning Glass as a ware handler and janitorial worker and was a 1961 graduate of the State College Area High School.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Facer was preceded in death by a sister, Roberta Farkas and a brother, Larry L. Facer.
Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Gerst and her husband, James Michael of Savage, Md. and Kathy Nichole Muire and her husband, Pastor Joseph Muir of Clearfield; a son, Edward Allen Facer Jr. of Jersey Shore; and two brothers, Richard T. Facer Jr. and his wife, Kay of Pleasant Gap and Earnest L. Facer and his wife, Sue Facer of Bellefonte.
Mr. Facer is also survived by seven grandchildren, James Edward Gerst, Lynn Ann Dipko, Levi Matthew Muir, Megan Elizabeth Gerst, Leah Elizabeth Muir, Katie Marie Muir and Samuel Eli Muir.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Port Matilda Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ryan Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in (Boggs Twp.) Howard.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. -8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service Tuesday at the church.
Military honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
