Obituary Notice: William L. Kelly Sr.

William L. Kelly Sr., 93, of Clearfield died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at Dubois Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 2, 1920, he was the son of Lincoln M. and Lottie Mae (Dent) Kelly.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He was employed by Harbison Walker for 35 years and also was a Lawrence Township police officer for numerous years.

He served four years as Clearfield County Constable and worked for the Clearfield Area School District as a custodian. He was also employed by Wal-Mart as a door greeter.

He was a member of the Patriotic Order of Americans, Mt. Joy Grange, Lawrence Twp. No. 1 Fire Company and the Civilian Conservation Corp.

He is survived by four children, William L. Kelly Jr. and Deborah J. Hill and her husband, Harry, all of Clearfield, James E. Kelly and his wife, Patricia of Ringgold, Ga., and Robert L. Kelly and his wife, Patricia of Brockport.

Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Irene Kelly of Bells Landing, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a brother, Ronald Kelly and his wife, Arvilla of Woodland.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret M. Kelly, whom he married on Aug. 9, 1941 in Burham and whom preceded him in death on Feb. 7, 2012; a son, John E. Kelly, a daughter-in-law, Judith Kelly, two granddaughters, Colena Gay Kelly and Kristen Kelly Hill, a brother Hobert Kelly and a sister, Virginia Shaffer.

At the request of Mr. Kelly, there will be no public visitation or services. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
