Obituary Notice: Gerald B. Hubler

Gerald B. Hubler, 57, of State College died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014 in Huntingdon.

Born Sept. 22, 1956 in Philipsburg, he was the son of Blaine “Mitch” Hubler and his companion, Florence “Flossie” Preece of Morrisdale and Viola Ferguson Hubler of Philipsburg.

Mr. Hubler was affiliated with the Calvary Baptist Church, State College. He was a 1975 graduate of the West Branch High School.

He was a self-employed heavy equipment press salesman. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Mr. Hubler was married to Joan Koester of State College. He’s also survived by a daughter, Carrie Posey of Orangeville; a son, John Hubler of Philipsburg; and his grandchildren, Layla, Leslie, Kyle, Raquel, Ian, Bennett and Carmen.

He’s also survived by brothers, Randy Hubler and his companion, Shelva of Morrisdale and Mitchell Hubler of State College and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Hubler was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer; a son, Jason; a brother, John “Wally” Hubler; maternal grandparents, Blake and Jane Weaver Ferguson; and his paternal grandparents, Floyd and Esther English-Hubler.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the chapel of the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale, with the Pastor Dan Nold officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
