Annie LaRue Gardner, 85, of Stronach died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born June 22, 1928 in Hepburnia, she was the daughter of William and Bessie (Hess) Wriglesworth.  She had been employed by Kents Sportswear in Curwensville and retired after 31 years of service.

She was a member of the Hepburnia United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women, the choir, and was named United Methodist Woman of the Year in 1999.  She was also a member of Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union Local 118C, Curwensville.

On May 24, 1952, she wed Kenneth C. Gardner, who preceded her in death on July 23, 1995.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Blair, Harold and Teddy; sisters, Thelma and Jane; nieces, Henrietta and Harriett; and nephews Boyd and Tom.  She was the last member of her generation

Surviving are nieces and nephews, Elva, Joice, R. Jess, Vernie, Lee, Linda, Janet, Eloise, Dean, Kenneth, Richard, Diane, Teddy, Larry, Patty Sue and Leslie.  Also surviving are numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces; and great-great-nephews.

Funeral services for LaRue Gardner will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. Wade R. Berkey and the Rev. Todd T. Hogue co-officiating.  Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery, Grampian.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 12 p.m. Thursday until time of services at the funeral home.

The family suggests contributions be made to the Hepburnia United Methodist Church.
