NWS Issues Winter Weather Advisory

STATE COLLEGE – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. tonight until 12 p.m. Tuesday in the northwest mountains.

The advisory is for hazardous types of snow with accumulations of four to six inches. A glaze of ice is also possible, according to the National Weather Service in State College.

The snow will move in from the west between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Snowfall will be heavy overnight, and patches of freezing drizzle will be possible Tuesday morning.

The winter storm will create hazardous travel conditions due to poor visibility and snow-covered roadways. Visibility will be as low as one-quarter of a mile at times.

Winds will be 10 to 20 miles per hour with gusts of up to 30 miles per hour. Temperatures will be in the lower 20’s.
