Gertrude L Horgas, 95, of Hollidaysburg and formerly of Houtzdale, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 at the home of her daughter in Hollidaysburg.
Born July 12, 1918 in Osceola Mills, she was the daughter of Mark and Helen (Kolesar) Macker.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale.
On June 5, 1943 in Baltimore, Md., she married Edward Joseph Horgas, who preceded her in death on July 5, 1994.
She’s survived by two daughters, Ella Moslak and her husband, Harold of Morrisdale and Judy Horgas of Hollidaysburg.
Also surviving are two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, two step-great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her generation.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, two sisters, Sue Causer and Elizabeth Macker and three brothers Joseph, Edward and William.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Robert Horgas as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Houtzdale.
Family and friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Sunday at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale.
The Rosary will be recited by the Altar and Rosary Society at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
