DUBOIS The American Red Cross PA Heartland Chapter is committed to assisting after devastating home fires and disasters in the area. Just this past weekend, local volunteers responded to a multi-unit apartment fire on East Park Avenue in DuBois and are currently assisting the displaced families with their immediate needs.

Volunteers met with the majority of the families on Saturday, and the Red Cross is providing 11 families (including 23 adults and 14 children) assistance with food, clothing and or shelter, depending upon their specific needs. Volunteers will continue to work with the families to refer them to area resources and to put them in touch with agencies which specialize in long-term recovery.

Clothing Donations
The local Red Cross has received many inquiries about donating clothing to the affected families. Interested individuals are encouraged to reach out to the local Salvation Army to make arrangements for donations of clothing and other items.

Monetary Donations
Those who are interested in helping the families affected by this and other disasters in the area, are welcome to make a donation to the local Red Cross. As a non-profit organization, the Red Cross could not provide its vital services in the community without the generous support of individuals, companies, organizations and foundations. To make a donation to local disaster relief, call 814-371-2750 or mail donations to 109 N. Brady St., DuBois, PA 15801.
