Barbara J. Carella, 76, of Clearfield died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at the UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born Nov. 5, 1937, a daughter of the late Harold and Hannah (Maines) Stevens.
Mrs. Carella retried as the dining room manager from Best Western Hotel, Clearfield. She had also been employed at the former Murphy’s Store in Clearfield.
She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, as well as the Rosary and Altar Society of the church. She was also a past member of the Junior Women’s Club and the Auxiliary of the Sons of Italy Club, Clearfield.
She is survived by four children, Denise Kitko of Clearfield, Lisa Cruz of Brockway, Carla Carella-Thomas and her husband, James of Indianapolis, Ind. and Lorenzo Carella and his wife, Tracy of Grampian; five grandchildren, Autumn Bloom and her husband, Mitch and Bianca Carella, both of Clearfield, Enrique Cruz of Brockway, Joshua Shugarts of Syracuse, NY, and Jessica Philips of Penfield; a great-granddaughter whom she cherished, Isabella Bloom; and two sisters, Ruby Schoening of Mineral Springs and Bonnie Knepp and her husband, James of Clearfield.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. ‘Abe’ Carella on Oct. 26, 2012 and whom she wed Jan. 26, 1957 in Clearfield, and two sisters, Cora Lingle and Evelyn Cowder.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield Pre-School Center, 119 N. Second St., Clearfield.
