Men Accused of Burglarizing Girard-Goshen Elementary School Waive Hearings

CLEARFIELD – Two Clearfield men who have been accused of burglarizing the Girard-Goshen Elementary School and stealing copper piping waived their preliminary hearings during Centralized Court on Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.

Samuel Kovach, 25, and Allen Robison III, 30, both of Clearfield, have been charged with burglary; theft by unlawful taking; receiving stolen property; criminal conspiracy/burglary; and criminal mischief. Their bail has been set at $25,000 monetary.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Sept. 27, 2013, state police were dispatched to the Girard-Goshen Elementary School for a reported burglary. Further, someone gained entry to the school and removed copper piping from the boiler room.

Kovach and Robison were arrested after a traffic stop in Clearfield Borough on Sept. 28, 2013. While the trunk of the vehicle wasn’t secured, police observed the stolen copper piping. Kovach and Robison were subsequently taken into custody by police; the stolen copper piping was recovered and returned to the Clearfield Area School District.

During an interview with police, Kovach admitted he went to the Girard-Goshen Elementary School with Robison on the night in question. He waited in the vehicle while Robison entered the school. After Robison returned to the vehicle, Kovach admitted that he helped load the copper piping into the vehicle.
