Obituary Notice: Eleanor L. Cherry

Eleanor L. Cherry, 92, of DuBois died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at her home.

Born Dec. 22, 1921 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Pauline (Meduri) Marco.

On June 21, 1952 at St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Clearfield, she married Edward V. Cherry Esq.  He preceded her in death on March 22, 1990.

Prior to marriage, she was a secretary for Harbison-Walker Refractories in Clearfield.  Later, she was a bookkeeper for Gleason, Cherry, & Cherry LLP.

Mrs. Cherry was a parishioner of the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Rosary and Altar Society.  She was active in the DuBois Lioness Club.

She’s survived by her children, Toni M. Cherry Esq. and her husband, Dr. P. Joseph Valigorsky II and Paula M. Cherry Esq. and her husband, Dr. Mark A. Piasio, both of DuBois, Dr. Robert J. Cherry and his wife, Kimberly S. Kirk Esq. of Charlton, Mass. and Dr. MaryLee Cherry and her husband, Dr. Gerard J. Gianoli of Covington, La.; a sister, Mrs. Carmella Cutrona of DuBois; and eight grandchildren, Lee Grace Valigorsky, Jack E. Piasio, Paul J. “Trip” Valigorsky III, Gerard J. Gianoli II, Grace V. Gianoli, Mary Claire Gianoli, Catherine A. Cherry and Edward H. Cherry.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Gennarino, Joseph and Anthony Marco and one sister, Victoria Sturniolo.

Friends will be received from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.

Burial will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
