Man to Stand Trial in Sexual Assault Case

CLEARFIELD – A 21-year-old Madera man accused of engaging in sex acts with a 15-year-old girl had all charges held for court by Magisterial District Judge James Hawkins after a preliminary hearing on Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.

Jared John Wilks, 21, of Madera has been charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault and indecent assault. Wilks’ bail has been set at $50,000 monetary.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Wilks allegedly engaged in sex acts with a 15-year-old girl between July 11 and Nov. 26 of 2013. The alleged sex acts occurred at several locations in Bigler Township.

On Dec. 10, the victim told state police she and Wilks would hang out on the weekends in the basement of his residence, as well as in his barn and garage. She and Wilks also would ride around and park along dirt roads.

In a wooded area near his residence, the victim said Wilks would give her Bud Light beer to drink. They would also engage in sex acts every weekend she was with him. The victim believed she and Wilks engaged in sex acts more than 20 or 30 times.

During the interview, the victim told state police Wilks was aware she was only 15 years old. On Jan. 22, Wilks admitted to engaging in sex acts with the victim. Wilks also admitted to knowing the victim was only 15 years old.
