Obituary Notice: Urban F. “Skip” Lux

Urban F. “Skip” Lux, 67, of DuBois died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at his home.

Born July 13, 1946 in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Francis and Margaret (Lidwell) Lux.

He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War and was a combat veteran.

On April 20, 1968, he married Loretta L. (Toath) Lux.  She survives.

Mr. Lux retired as a corporal from the Pennsylvania State Police after serving 31 years as a trooper.  He was a co-owner of Fox’s Pizza in Reynoldsville for 13 years.  He also worked as a security guard at the Clearfield Courthouse for nine years.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in DuBois, where he was very active in church affairs.  He was a 1964 graduate of Bishop McCourt High School in Johnstown.

Mr. Lux is survived by three children, Cheri Lux of East Hampton, NY, James Lux of DuBois and Andrew Lux and his wife, Wendy of New Windsor, MD; two sisters, Janet Hanley of Johnstown and Mary Lou Holder and her husband, Dave of Pittsburgh; and one grandchild, Shawna’Lee Lux.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Lux.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Kresinski and Fr. David Foradori co-celebrating.

Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery.
