CLEARFIELD – At this week’s meeting, the Clearfield County Commissioners approved job description changes to the deputy warden positions at the Clearfield County Jail.
Commissioner John A. Sobel, chair, presented the job description changes. It was noted Deputy Warden Greg Collins asked the commissioners to approve the changes to the positions prior to him assuming the position of warden when current Warden Sam Lombardo retires in April.
The request, Sobel said, is to title one of the positions as Deputy Warden of Programs and the other as Deputy Warden of Operations. The Deputy Warden of Programs will be in charge of the work release and drug and alcohol programs. The Deputy Warden of Operations will assist in the day-to-day operations of the jail.
Commissioner Mark B. McCracken explained that prison board members looked at the management structure positions directly under the warden. He said they requested Collins to work with the county’s Human Resources Director Marianne Sankey to develop new job descriptions for the deputy warden positions.
McCracken said that he agreed with the job descriptions. However, he asked that the portion concerning the 4 p.m. – 12 p.m. hours of work be removed from the Deputy Warden of Operations’ job description. He said this could be revisited once the positions are filled to decide how the shifts are staffed by the management staff.
The commissioners unanimously approved the changes to the job descriptions of the deputy wardens with the shift restrictions struck out by McCracken.
