Obituary Notice: Goldie Gardner

Goldie I. (Mosley) Hamm Gardner, 83, of Madera and a guest of the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield, died on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014 at the home.

Born Jan. 27, 1930 in Belsena Mills, she was the daughter of Lewis and Bess (Lockett) Mosley.  She was a 1947 graduate of Madera High School. She graduated from high school with honors.

She had worked for 42 years in various sewing factories in the area in the cutting room.  She was Methodist by faith and a former member of the Madera VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Curwensville Ladies of the Moose.

She enjoyed flowers, walking, spending time with children and grandchildren, riding in the woods looking for deer, crossword puzzles and board games.

In July of 1947, she wed Francis C. “Joe” Hamm, who preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1972.  On Feb. 2, 1973, she wed her second husband, Jack L. Gardner, who also preceded her in death in May of 2010.

She’s survived by three sons and three daughters, Francis “Joe” Hamm and Lewis (Judy) Hamm, both of Madera, Marya Reinbott and Tim (Dorothy) Hamm, both of Houtzdale, Kathy Hamm of Brisbin and Barbara (Ron) Bainey of Osceola Mills; and two step-children, Robert (Tammy) Gardner and Jackie Perino.

She’s survived by seven grandchildren, Greg (Ann), Bill (Jamie), Jessie, Timmy, Bridget and Ana Hamm and Amy (Trent) Yarrison and five great-grandchildren. She’s also survived by three sisters and two brothers, Mona Nevling of Houtzdale, Sandra Kyle of Bethlehem, Judith Mitchell of Clearfield, Richard (Betty) Mosley of Madera and Robert (Jane) Mosley of Dover; two sisters-in-law, Florence Mosley of North Carolina and Edith Mosley of Houtzdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Francis C. “Joe” Hamm; her second husband, Jack L. Gardner; one granddaughter, Melinda Hamm; and one son-in-law, Fred Reinbott

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Thursday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc., Madera.

Funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the Brisbin IOOF Cemetery, Brisbin.
