Merrel W. “Bill” Lumadue Jr., 81, of Clearfield died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at the Hamot Medical Center, Erie. He was the husband of 59 years to Mona (Wilsoncroft) Lumadue of Clearfield, whom he married Jan. 10, 1955.
Born Jan. 1, 1933 in Mineral Springs, he was the son of the late Merrel W. Lumadue Sr. and Lenora V. “Norn” (Wisor) Lumadue.
He was employed as a custodian. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War.
He was a member of Calvary Church of God, Mineral Springs. He was a member of the American Legion, Clearfield. He was also a member and past president of the F.O.E. No. 812.
He liked to read, enjoyed music, playing his guitar. He was a part of several bands, including the Pennsylvania Ramblers.
In addition to his wife, surviving are three sons and a daughter, Donald W. Lumadue and his wife, Robin and Charles M. Lumadue and his wife, Lora, both of Bigler, Jeffrey L. Lumadue and his wife, Alicia of Karthaus; and Valery A. Glace and her husband, Thomas of Goshen; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers and a sister, the Rev. Paul D. Lumadue and Gary L. Lumadue, both of Mineral Springs and Patsy Wilsoncroft and her husband, Milford of West Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant granddaughter, Jenica Shirey.
A service to celebrate the life of Merrel W. “Bill” Lumadue Jr. will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc., 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield, with the Rev. Sam Maines and Stanley Wisor co-officiating.
A time to share memories and have an opportunity to view will held from 1 p.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Stoneville Cemetery.
