DUBOIS – Several students participated in the latest Microsoft Word (MS) workshop, sponsored by DuBois Business College (DBC).
The workshop ran 16 hours in length, teaching skills and fundamentals to enable the students to use the MS Word program with more confidence, on both a professional and personal level. The workshop consisted of each student adopting a soldier at www.adoptaussoldier.org and corresponding with that soldier.
One segment of the workshop focused on each student using a fictitious business of their choice to create a flyer to advertise their business, develop letterhead for their business and then write a letter to DBC president, Jackie Syktich, explaining how the newly learned MS Word skills will enhance their business and everyday life. The entire 16 hours is filled with learning new skills, addressing problem areas and practice exercises to master skills.
The following workshops are scheduled to begin in early spring, due to the current inclement weather: digital photography, April 12; QuickBooks, March 4; tablets workshop on April 7; basics/beginners in mid-April, and a Windows 8 workshop. A PowerPoint workshop, MS Word and beginners Excel workshop is in the planning stages for this summer, with dates to be announced.
