Mobile Home Destroyed by Covington Twp. Fire

COVINGTON TOWNSHIP – A mobile home was destroyed by a fire that started at 7:15 p.m. Friday at 206 Deer Haven Rd., in Covington Township, reported the state police at Ridgway.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and the Karthaus Fire Department investigated the origin and cause of the fire. The fire destroyed a double-wide mobile home.

The mobile home belonged to Sandra L. Picard, 68, of Frenchville. She was at home at the time of the fire but escaped with help from her sister, Patricia Barger, who lived next door, state police said.

No injuries occurred as a result of the fire. Damage is estimated at $60,000, state police said, adding, the fire doesn’t appear to be suspicious in nature but remains under investigation at this time.

The Morris Township, Grassflat and Pine Glen fire departments assisted at the scene.
