James Mack Harter, 81, of Bigler, and formerly of Mahaffey, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 at his home.
He was born May 15, 1932 in Mahaffey, a son of the late James L. and Fae (Davidson) Harter.
Mr. Harter retired from Utility Forestry Services, Clearfield, where he was the last original Wawrynovic employee.
He was a member of Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Mahaffey.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Sahm) Harter, whom he wed July 5, 1953 in Mahaffey; three children, Richard Harter and his wife, Diane of Alexandria, Robin Kitchen and her husband, Guy of La Jose and Sally Morgan and her husband, Tim of Bigler; seven grandchildren, Brian and Brock Harter, Jennifer Kitchen, Amanda Massy, Kyle, Zane and Thayne Morgan; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Harter and MacKenzie Massy; a sister, Naomi Gaggini of Ellwood City; and a brother, William Harter and his wife, Janet of Blairsville.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Mahaffey, with the Rev. Myron Wattenphul officiating. Burial will occur at a later date.
The family suggests that flowers and memorial contributions be made to Mahaffey Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 409 E. Main St., Mahaffey, PA 15757.
