CURWENSVILLE – The Ridgway boys basketball team made a successful road trip to Curwensville on Tuesday night, beating the Golden Tide for the second time this season, 56-41.
The Elkers stopped the Tide back on December 13, 46-25.
The Golden Tide have now lost three straight contests and are 6-5 on the 20313-14 season.
Ridgway doubled up Curwensville at the half, 36-18, before the Golden Tide took the second half, 23-20.
Senior Brett Gardner, with nine first quarter points, lead the Tide offense with 16 points overall.
The Elkers had three players in double figures with Jeremy Breier leading the way with a game high 21. Josh Rosselli with 15 and Joe Horning with 11 helped out the Ridgway attack.
Golden Tide head coach Shane Pentz spoke afterwards about his offense “Brett Gardner got us off to a good start with nine first quarter points, but we had trouble keeping any consistency on that end of the floor. We need to start sharing the ball more and getting more of an inside out game to our half court offense.”
Then Pentz opened up about his team’s defense, “We need to get back to some basics with our defense. We are giving up too many open shots to opposing teams, and they are knocking them down right now. I have to do a better job on the sidelines of making some adjustments and having us change things on the fly.”
The Golden Tide mentor closed saying, “Tonight was the halfway point, as far as games go. We already have won as many games as last year, but we just need to find that winning combination again. I have faith in this team and I’m sure we are going to get things going in the right direction again.”
The Tide return to the hardwood on Friday night with a trip to Brockway to encounter the Rovers. The JV game is scheduled to tip off at 6 pm with the varsity to follow immediately.
