Lillian A. “Gussie” Shugarts, 86, of Clearfield, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at her home.
Ms. Shugarts was born Oct. 16, 1927 in Clearfield, the daughter of Philip and Mae (Milliron) Garito.
She had worked as a waitress most of her life at various places, including the Dimeling Hotel.
Ms. Shugarts was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Eagles and Moose Auxiliary.
She is survived by four children, Joanne M. Anderson and John E. Shugarts, both of Clearfield, Robert P. Shugarts and his wife, Marlene of New Millport and Joyce A. Mays and her husband, William of Glen Richey; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Shaw, Louise Murray and Jeannette Ogden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ms. Shugarts was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, William F. Shugarts Jr., Thomas J. and Larry J. Shugarts; a grandson, Robert Shugarts Jr.; and two brothers, Dominic and James Garito.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with the Rev. M. Bruce Dimmick officiating.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
