PSU Altoona to Host “A Conversation with Nate Berkus” for Speaker Series

ALTOONA – Nate Berkus, design expert, author and television host, will be at the Blair County Convention Center April 10 at 7:30 p.m. as part of Penn State Altoona’s Speaker Series.

Nearly all self-taught, Berkus formed Nate Berkus Associates in 1995 at the age of 24. The firm grew to include projects for Wolfgang Puck’s Spago, Barney’s New York, W hotels, as well as a prestigious list of private homes and clients. In 2002, Berkus was invited to make over a small space for The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Berkus became a featured design expert for the show and continued to garner national press in publications such as ELLE DECOR, US Weekly, People, O Magazine, Lucky and Domino. In 2005, Berkus released his first book, Home Rules: Transform the Place You Live into a Place You’ll Love, a New York Times best seller. The following year, The Nate Berkus Show debuted on XM’s, Oprah Radio channel.  In 2008, Berkus hit prime time as the host of the movement-making hit show, Oprah’s Big Give, and in 2010, The Nate Berkus Show launched in households across America.

Proceeds from the Speaker Series events benefit the Penn State Altoona Future Fund, which provides funds for programs that enrich the academic and cultural life on campus and in the community. This fund also enables the administration to offer emergency scholarship assistance to students experiencing a financial crisis. Sponsorships from an array of individuals, businesses and corporations enable Penn State Altoona to direct all proceeds to the Future Fund.
