PENN TOWNSHIP – The Clearfield-based state police have initiated an investigation into the theft of copper wire that occurred sometime between Dec. 20 and Dec. 31 along Anderson and McDivitt roads in Penn Township.
During the incident, the suspect(s) took approximately 5,000 feet of copper wire that was along multiple telephone poles. State police believe the suspect(s) used a rope to pull down the wire and to cut it at both ends.
The suspect(s) cut copper wire along the roadway at 21, separate pole locations. This resulted in $24,000 worth of material and labor, state police said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
