CLEARFIELD – The first class of employees of the Sheetz Corp. tested and received their CDL Class A license on Dec. 27.

The Clearfield County Career & Technology Center (CCCTC), in partnership with Sheetz, launched a program of instruction in the CCCTC truck driver training program.  Employees in the transportation division transfer from the smaller distribution vehicles to tractor trailers located at the Sheetz Facility Distribution Center in Claysburg.

Students enter the four-and-a-half week program with a CDL learner’s permit, as well as medical, drug and background clearances. Each student completes 180 hours of lab and on road instruction, logging more than 1,500 miles each.  Employees further their training with a qualified Sheetz instructor for an additional 22 weeks. The joint venture will soon continue with additional trainees.

The CCCTC currently has open enrollment for five available instruction programs.  Douglas McClellan, truck driver training coordinator, states he is receiving calls daily from local and national transportation facilities recruiting graduates for immediate employment.  The Please contact the CCCTC at 814-765-5308 for additional information.
