DUBOIS – The Downtown DuBois Revitalization Group’s Promotions Committee will hold its re-organizational meeting at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Greater DuBois Chamber, located on the second-floor of the First Commonwealth Bank on the corner of Long Avenue and Brady Street.
The Promotions Committee is tasked with the overall communication of the group’s goals, events and activities for the year. It’s also tasked with specific special events, such as the Grapes and Hops Walk, annual Christmas promotion and Art Walk on the Block.
Marketing Manager Mary Jo Hughes said, “We have had several really successful events, and we’re thrilled with that. But we still need to get the word out about downtown DuBois in general and some new events we’re looking to do in 2014.” The group is actively looking for community helpers for a variety of events and activities.
The DDRG was founded in 2007 as a non-profit organization with the mission of providing services to align with the Pennsylvania Main Street Program and to advocate for the needs of downtown DuBois, businesses, property owners and visitors.
From the beginning, the vision embraced by DDRG has been to facilitate the re-creation of downtown DuBois as a destination of choice. DDRG, along with merchants, property owners, public officials and concerned residents, embraces the restoration of downtown DuBois as the keystone of retail, cultural and social activities within the region by ensuring and promoting an eclectic mix of available goods, services and activities delivered in a sensory-provocative, consumer-focused fashion.
The DDRG, as an organization, has striven to be a community driven initiative that encourages revitalization by promoting local ownership, personal services and historic preservation.
