Lee David Swatsworth Sr., 72, of Curwensville died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh after a lengthy illness.

Born July 15, 1941, he was the son of Leonard “Chuck” and Josephine “Peg” (Passmore) Swatsworth.  He was Protestant by faith and baptized as a member of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Swatsworth was last employed by the former Superior Pet Products of Curwensville and retired after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Curwensville L.O.O.M. No. 268 and the Curwensville VFW Post No. 842.

In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed raising his many beagles.  He will be greatly missed by his loving and faithful companion, “Gussie” beagle.

On March 10, 1984 at Olanta, he wed the former Margaret “Maggie” Greene, who survives along with three sons,  Lee Swatsworth Jr. of Delaware, Mark Swatsworth of Huntingdon and Jeff Swatsworth and his wife, Georgia of Bells Landing.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, Bridget, Jamison and Kylie Swatsworth, all of Punxsutawney and David and Chad Swatsworth and Shanna Patterson, all of Portersville and two great-grandchildren, Isaia Swatsworth and Cheyenne Gallaher, both of Punxsutawney.

In addition, he is survived by two sisters, Betty Kula and her husband, John of Olanta and Susan “Sue” Stephens and her husband, Allen “Tuffy” of Curwensville; a sister-in-law, Norma “Teed” Swatsworth of Curwensville; 20 nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Mindy Nelen and her husband, Mark and great-niece, Morgan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Carl R. and Denton L. Swatsworth; two brothers, Leonard and Richard “Dick” Swatsworth; a sister, Jean Stiles; a sister-in-law, Shirley Swatsworth; and a nephew, Dicky Swatsworth.

Funeral services for Lee Swatsworth will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with Mr. Dean Richards officiating.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and again from 10 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.

The Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville is in charge of the arrangements.
