PURCHASE LINE – The Bald Eagle Area High School boys basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Purchase Line Lions Club Tournament with a 68-41 win over the Clearfield Bison on Friday night at Purchase Line High School.
The Eagles also defeated the Bison on December 18 at Clearfield, 89-57, in a game that Bald Eagle Area connected on 11 three-pointers.
Clearfield was much more competitive this time around, trailing at the half by only four points, 33-29.
Bald Eagle Area turned on the defense in the second 16 minutes, outscoring the suddenly cold shooting Bison 35-12.
Freshman Will Myers led Clearfield with 14, while senior Derek Hryn chipped in with 10.
Bald Eagle Area was paced by Bryce Greene and his game high of 23 with Brandon Gettig tossing in 14 and Bryan Greene 11.
Clearfield, now 1-5, will play in the consolation game Saturday at 6 pm against Harmony, which lost in the other semi-final contest to host Purchase Line.
