Emma E. (Ponish) Soupart, 87, of Smithmill died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 at her home. She was born Dec. 8, 1926 in Osceola Mills to the late John and Anna (Skorvaga) Ponish.
She was married to the late John “Sheep” Soupart, who preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1993.
She’s survived by three daughters and three sons, John of Indianapolis, IN, Dennis of Olyphant, Virginia Slovikosky of Coalport, Marlene Soupart of Houtzdale, Frank Soupart of Smithmill and Annette (Dan) Gallagher of Reynoldsville.
She’s also survived by six grandchildren, Chrissie Soupart, Rob Slovikosky, Shawn Soupart, Daniel (Erin) Gallagher, Richie Gallagher and Amanda Gallagher; three great-grandchildren, Danny B., Oliver and Orrin Gallagher; a sister, Anna Socash of Erie; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She’s preceded in death by two brothers, John and Joe Ponish and one sister, Mary Frank.
She worked in many local factories and from her home as a seamstress. She loved to garden and shared her plants with many people. She was a parishioner of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey, with Fr. Zab Amar as the celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
At her request, there will be no visitation.
