Franklin E. Wisor Jr., 65, of Woodland died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013 at the Clearfield Hospital, Clearfield.

He was born July 17, 1948 in Philipsburg, a son of the late Franklin E. Wisor Sr. and Mildred E. (Lonjin) Wisor.

Mr. Wisor was formerly employed at Kurtz Bros., Clearfield, for 37 years.
He was a member of Lake Street United Methodist Church, Woodland. He was a past president and life member of the Bigler-Jackson-Woodland Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member of the Rescue Hose and Ladder Co., Curwensville, as well as a member of the Clearfield Music Booster Association.

Mr. Wisor was also a charter member of the Bradford Township Planning Commission. He was a past member and secretary/treasurer for a number of years of the Graphics Communication International Union Local No. 493.

In addition to his involvement at various sportsmen’s clubs, he had a love of the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was active with the former Woodland Softball League and served as assistant coach of the Clearfield Girls Softball team.

Being a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served during the Vietnam era and continued his enlistment with the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6.
He will be remembered as a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan and all Penn State and Clearfield Bison sports. He also enjoyed reading.

He is survived by two children, Jennifer Poirier and her husband, Noel of Wrightsville and Jason Wisor and his fiancé, Melissa Hayward of Woodland; four grandchildren, Claire and Luc Poirier, Brina Carfley-Bickel and Ashley P. Wisor; a sister, Cynthia Marino and her husband, Michael of Clearfield; a sister-in-law, Jeannine Barger and her husband, Robert and a brother-in-law, Duane Shifter and his wife, Marsha of Clearfield; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine S. (Shifter) Wisor on July 3, 2009 and whom he wed Jan. 8, 1970 in Hillcrest Heights, MD.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 30 at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with the Rev. Thomas A. Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts Honor Guard.

Friends will be received from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Dec 29 at the funeral home.
